I’m a documentary filmmaker and video editor based in Montevideo and working with clients around the world.

For over a decade, I’ve directed and edited dozens of videos and short documentaries on development, climate change, education and migration for media clients as well as organizations —including the Inter-American Development Bank, UNICEF, UNESCO and the World Bank—, supervising crews in over a dozen countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

I also contribute regularly with Univision Digital as a film editor, with credits including “Rising Up in the Heartland” —a News & Documentary Emmy nominee, an Online Journalism Award winner and First Place Winner for Documentary Journalism at Pictures of the Year International. For my work in the short documentary "Born without arms or legs,"

I received a 2025 Best of Photojournalism award (Documentary Editor) by the National Press Photographers Association (NPPA).

In 2008, I premiered my first feature-length documentary film as director. “Hit” tells the hidden stories of the authors of some of the most unforgettable songs in Uruguay. The movie topped the national box office and remained in theaters for 16 weeks.

It was followed by “La Flor de la Vida”, a film about love and loss which tells the story of a marriage of 50 years gone wrong.

A Sundance Institute grantee, the documentary premiered at IDFA and went on to participate in over a dozen festivals.

It also inspired a spin-off series, "La Flor de la Vida - La serie."

My films, created in collaboration with Claudia Abend, have screened at festivals such as IDFA, True/False, DocsBarcelona, BAFICI and Ambulante, and have received multiple awards, including:

- Audience Award (Málaga Film Festival, Spain)

- Special Jury Prize (It's All True International Documentary Film Festival, Brazil)

- Best National Film (Uruguay’s Film Critics' Association Awards)

- 2 Best Editing awards (Uruguay’s Film Critics' Association Awards)

Currently, I’m editing my third feature-length documentary, “Mom is Here.”

I am adjunct professor of documentary film at the University of Montevideo. I also hold an M.A. in Journalism and Latin American Studies from New York University, through a Fulbright Scholarship, and a B.A. in Communication from the Catholic University of Uruguay.

I’m always open to new collaborations and projects —feel free to reach outadrianaloeff@gmail.com.
